Foster KB6 KORE Blast Chiller
The Foster KB6 from the KORE blast chiller range handles 20kg per cycle, taking food from +70°C to +3°C within 90 minutes. It uses the same 880mm high, 755 x 720mm cabinet as the KB5 but doubles the capacity, with 6 GN 1/1 shelf positions, so kitchens can chill larger batches without giving up any extra floor space.

Double the capacity in the same footprint
Choosing between the KB5 and KB6 comes down to batch size rather than space, because the two cabinets are identical on the outside and share the same 48 litre net volume. The KB6 adds a sixth shelf position and a higher power rating, 550W against the KB5's 400W, to chill 20kg per cycle instead of 10kg.
Loading and shelving
The six positions sit at a 75mm pitch on GN 1/1 tray slides. Most kitchens load the KB6 with the trays the food was cooked on, so a batch goes in without being decanted, which is why no shelves are supplied as standard. GN 1/1 shelves of 530 x 325mm can be ordered with the unit for anything that needs one.
Controls, probe and cleaning
Operation is through a touchscreen rated IP65 for water protection, running easy-to-use programmes. The probe sits in the core of the food and reports back to the controls, so the KB6 itself registers when a batch is chilled. Inside there are no visible screws or dirt traps, the gasket can be removed for cleaning, and castors let the unit be pulled out to clean around it.
When to choose the KB10 or a Premier BCT
If 20kg per cycle will not keep up, the KB10 chills 35kg across 10 levels on the same footprint, building upwards to 1540mm. For blast freezing as well as chilling, look at the Premier BCT range, such as the BCT22-12. The blast chiller buying guide helps match capacity to your kitchen.

What is the difference between the Foster KB5 and KB6?
The two share the same cabinet and dimensions. The KB6 chills 20kg per cycle across 6 shelf positions, while the KB5 chills 10kg across 5, and the KB6 is rated at 550W against 400W for the KB5.
What did the Foster KB6 replace?
The KB6 is the KORE by Foster Gamko successor to the Xtra XR20 blast chiller, chilling 20kg loads from +70°C to +3°C within 90 minutes.
Do I need to buy shelves for the Foster KB6?
Not usually. Its 6 positions have GN 1/1 tray slides at a 75mm pitch, so cooking trays slide straight in. Nylon coated GN 1/1 shelves can be added as options when ordering if you prefer to use them.
Can the Foster KB6 blast freeze?
No. The KB6 is a dedicated blast chiller and does not freeze. Kitchens that need to freeze as well should look at Foster's Premier BCT blast chiller freezers, such as the BCT22-12, which offer occasional freeze.
