The Foster KU1L is a 600 litre upright commercial freezer from the KORE by Foster Gamko range, holding frozen stock between -18°C and -21°C. It shares its 1965 x 700 x 870mm footprint with the KU1H refrigerator, so the two make a matched fridge and freezer pair, and like the KU1H it is designed to fit through standard doorways. It is made in Foster's UK factory and is available on free next working day delivery.

A matching partner for the KU1H

The KU1L and the KU1H refrigerator have identical external dimensions, so where a kitchen needs both, the pair lines up neatly along a wall and makes the layout simpler to plan. Both come on castors with a right hand hinged door, and left hand hinging is available at no extra charge, although it extends the build time.

Energy grade C explained

The KU1L is rated energy grade C, with an Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) of 43.18. A freezer has to work considerably harder than a fridge to hold its temperature, so its grade and consumption will always sit above those of the KU1H, and the fairest comparison is with other upright freezers of a similar size. Inside the cabinet

The KU1L gives 433 litres of usable net storage from its 600 litres gross volume, with three GN 2/1 size shelves (650 x 530mm) supplied. Frozen stock is often bought in bulk and kept for longer, so up to seven more shelves with tray slides can be added at the point of order to split loads into smaller batches that are easier to rotate. Every opening lets warm air in, which makes the self-closing door especially useful on a freezer, as it shuts even when staff walk away from it. The internal light means stock can be found at a glance.

Replacing an older freezer

If the KU1L is taking the place of an existing unit, collection and safe disposal of one old unit can be added when you order, subject to terms. Together with its doorway-friendly height and castors, that makes a like-for-like swap straightforward.
