Just because some ice makers make bullet-shaped ice, doesn't mean they will leave a bullet-shaped hole in your wallet and stop working after a few days! Depending on the brand, water quality and ambient temperature, a commercial ice machine should last between 7-10 years of daily use.

Do ice machines use a lot of electricity?

This varies greatly depending on the ice maker you're looking to buy. However, the average cost of running an ice machine is about £20 a month. So, it's certainly not the most expensive commercial kitchen equipment to run but not the cheapest either.

If you're currently buying bags of ice, though, an ice maker can be a great investment depending on how much you're spending a week, over time, you could save a lot of money.
